<p>The Technical Studio Manager is responsible for the running of the in-house atelier, reporting into the Head of Design and working closely with the PD Manager. This dual role focuses on the creation of samples working with experimental new fabrics and finishes requiring expertise in determining commercial viability and consistency in fit standards throughout the range. The role will manage a team of four in the execution of samples, management of the critical path and studio budget and scheduling of fit models. An essential part of the role will be to ensure fit comments are noted and relayed accurately throughout the sampling process.</p> <p>The successful Studio Manager will have strong technical expertise in Womens Ready-To-Wear and Runway fashion. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of luxury fabrics and finishes, garment construction, print and embellishment techniques is also essential along with a proven track record in successfully managing a studio budget, workflow and team. The ability to work positively in a cross-functional capacity as a strong team player is a necessity.</p> <p><u>Main responsibilities</u></p> <ul> <li>Manage the studio team of pattern cutters, machinists and interns to achieve a positive studio culture and high level of performance.</li> <li>Manage the Sample room budget to ensure budgeted costs are adhered to, and in-house capacity is clearly communicated to the design and product development team.</li> <li>Ensure in-house samples are produced in line with the critical path, to the required quality.</li> <li>Work closely with Design and PD team to ensure continuity in garment construction.</li> <li>Attend all Development and Production fittings, including FG abroad, making sure all data is recorded thoroughly and the garment construction in consistent throughout the range and up to the standards.</li> <li>Become a trusted source of technical input in all fittings.</li> <li>Coordinate creation of couture/VIP garments, ensuring creative vision is realised.</li> <li>Organise model bookings and castings.</li> <li>Manage the pattern cutting team with responsibility for all Gerber related matters, including coordinating the Gerber schedule.</li> <li>Support PD and factories where there are make or construction queries.</li> <li>Attend all FTS meetings to ensure the technical aspect of the garment is taken into consideration when fabrics are allocated.</li> <li>Manage all studio suppliers and technical procurement.</li> <li>Source and manage interns for design and studio.</li> <li>Work with Product Development to agree and book freelance support for technical team to ensure critical path deadlines can be met.</li> <li>Develop and expand the quality standards within the technical team ensuring consistency.</li> <li>Maintain and update fitting notes throughout season.</li> <li>Along with PD, periodically check factories to make sure they conform to company standards.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Essential Skills</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Studio or Collection Manager with at least 2 years management experience in Womens RTW and Runway fashion.</li> <li>A technical qualification or experience working in a technical and/or pattern cutting role within luxury fashion encompassing mainline and runway collections.</li> <li>Experience working with complex fabrics, leather, prints and embellishment.</li> <li>Experience working in a Gerber studio an advantage.</li> <li>Highly organised team player able to motivate and lead an atelier team encouraging a positive culture.</li> <li>Communicate effectively cross functionally within the business.</li> </ul>
