zLabels is Zalando’s fashion subsidiary. Located in the heart of Berlin, we develop fashion brands handling every step in the product lifecycle from initial design right through to distribution. There's no stopping us growing and we are looking for you to join our Twintip team to start latest 01.12.2016, in a role as a Product Developer/ Garment Technician (m/f) with a focus on outerwear, knit, light woven and jersey at our beautiful Berlin Friedrichshain location


  • We are the ecommerce retailer. You need to be the online guru, understanding both our product and customers
  • You will work closely with our Designers and Buyers to develop collection planning for each season by actively participating in our working and buying meetings, coming up with your input for collection building and with constant injections of your experienced advice
  • You will lead fittings and prepare tech packs with all relevant technical information together with Designers and Buyers
  • You will develop shapes, comment and approve all development samples
  • You will approve bulk production
  • You will follow up and analyze weekly sales, do detailed RR (return rate) end-of-season analysis, monitor online customer comments - any new ideas are welcome in order to understand our customer behavior and reduce RRs
  • QM (Quality Management) department is going to be your best friend: you’ll be responsible for following up any physical and chemical testing problems, be the link between suppliers, our product team and QM in order to reduce any potential delivery delays
  • Critical Path is the air you breathe - CLEAR understanding and ownership of CP with its deadlines you develop together with Buyers are one of the key attributes for this role
  • You will have excellent knowledge of the fashion market: commercial vs trend with supreme eye on competitors
  • You will communicate and lead our suppliers into creating value-for-price products, keeping an eye on execution and value-for-money aspects
  • You will travel to Far-East and Europe to make sure that all development standards are fulfilled
  • You will be a troubleshooter in case of any problems


  • You are an excellent Product Developer with awesome knowledge of garment technology and experience with Young Fashion Womenswear
  • You have at least 3-5 years of experience in product development and/ or production of fast-moving fashion industries, preferably in vertical, international retail
  • You are experienced in developing knitwear, outerwear, sweat, light woven and jersey
  • You have a good understanding of the processes that exist in fast moving fashion companies
  • You are experienced in fabrics, print techniques, washings, treatments and dying methods
  • You have excellent skills in pattern construction, leading fitting sessions and writing clear comments
  • You are able to work on given timelines and prioritization
  • You are aware of latest trends in Young Fashion segment and able to translate them into the fits and outcome of products, yet have an excellent understanding on what commercial product is
  • You have a sharp eye and profound industry knowledge, and you have the ability to recognize new trends paired with strong analytical skills that match our vision
  • You have a problem-solving mind, great communication skills and you love to work within an international team
  • Your strengths shine bright, in particular your assertiveness in negotiations with suppliers
  • You are an enthusiastic person, who loves to be a part of a team
  • You speak English fluently; German and or other language skills are definitely a plus
