Somers Distribution is seeking suitable candidates for the newly created position of Merchandiser to manage inventory.

The distribution company, part of the CMJ group is rapidly expanding into wider distribution with a portfolio of brands and suppliers which currently includes, stackable jewellery brand; Dollie, a ready to wear trend-led sterling silver brand and Diamonfire, inspired by diamonds a leading brand offering the timeless elegance of diamonds at unbelievable prices.

Reporting to the head of Distribution, the role will involve planning and forecasting all stock related information and materials. Management, analysis and communication of comprehensive documentation including spreadsheet presentation and augmentation. 

The administration of the purchase order book, liaison with all existing and prospective suppliers. The analysis of performance and preparation of reports for the Head of Distribution/Financial Controller.

Day-to-day the successful applicant will be tasked with managing the stock; including; packaging, point of sale, stationary and equipment. With a focus on regularly updating colleagues regarding current stock inventory, highlighting any potential deficit or excess across all ranges in stock. 

Within this multi-faceted role you will be expected to use analytical skills to create stock and sales forecasts.  The role will closely link with the sales team; you will collate and create forecasts for orders based on all information passed from the sales force to prepare budgets for the Financial Controller and Head of Distribution frequently. These regular reviews of existing stock and forecasting systems will allow you to improve efficiency and streamline the current processes in place.

In terms of person profile, you must be a diligent, analytical, ‘trusted pair of hands’ – you should be comfortable with numbers and able to use a host of computer programmes including excel to analyse stock. Previous experience with Zero or similar accounts package would be an advantage.

You will be self-motivated and able to prioritise your work load – identifying the needs of the business through forward planning and be able to communicate this effectively.
