Our client, a well established large worldwide retailer is looking for new talent for its Product team.

As a Global Category Manager specialized in DENIM your role will be highly analytical and focused on ensuring your team of designers and buyers are getting the right product at the right time for you market.

You will be responsible for 2 people (1 Designer, 1 Junior Designer) and will report into the VP Head of women.


Your main responsibilities will be:


Take business ownership of the respective category: manage the sales and margin performance (Retail & Wholesale) of the respective category within the division through the analysis of market needs, development of products, final selection of products, definition of purchase quantities

Provide constant input in the optimisation of products, processes and people

Work in close cooperation with the Finance/Planning department to define the budget for the respective category and translate individual budgets into divisional sales and the purchase budget for the respective category

Drive open-to-buy management in cooperation with Merchandising and Finance/Planning

Constantly monitor the divisional performance KPIs: sales performance to planned, gross and achieved margin development (Retail & Wholesale), stock levels (Retail & Wholesale) and forward cover

Analyse market needs to understand consumer requirements and define commercial needs

Utilise sell-in data as an early indicator of business trending in the wholesale environment

Participate in the creation of new collections and make use of commercial skills in detecting volume styles

Develop the seasonal basic, NOOS and mail order concepts

Generate the NOOS forecast in close cooperation with Retail & Wholesale Merchandising

Be responsible for the production and development of prototypes and salesmen samples at the source, and work in close cooperation with supplier concerning the prototyping and sampling procedure

Use sales forecasting to make decisions on the final style selection and quantities purchased

Drive market right pricing and price negotiation with the supplier, based on the open costing sheet

Together with Product Sourcing and the Head of Buying for the relevant category, be responsible for the supplier portfolio: develop a supplier strategy based on the product strength and service level

Maintain a strong relationship with existing suppliers, research new suppliers to optimise product quality and remain competitive in the market place

Prepare and present at the International Presentation (IP) for the category

Ensure timely and complete delivery in close cooperation with the Head of Buying for the category and logistics.

Define and actively manage shipping methods in close cooperation with the Head of Buying

Provide disciplined and expert leadership for employees from the relevant area of responsibility, and ensure compliance with occupational health & safety guidelines and any legal requirements relating to the protection of employees


Qualification profile


- Textile management degree or Business administration degree

- Wide professional experience in a comparable position


Technical skills


- Knowledge of goods and products

- Sound knowledge of the relevant product fields

- Experience in product management

- Excellent command in both written and spoken English

- Willing to relocate to Germany
