Senior Assistant Merchandiser

Reports to: Merchandiser

Department: Footwear, Bags and Accessories

Location: Head Office, Great Eastern Street, London

Role Purpose

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Assistant Merchandiser will be supporting the Merchandiser in the commercial operation of your department by delivering a product offer that exceeds customer expectations and achieves sales and profit targets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan and trade a number of different key cash categories, working within parameters set within top-line initial planning; focusing on all KPI's to deliver profit expectations.
  • Driving lessons learnt, Season Analysis and strategy meetings prior to pre-season planning
  • Weekly Forecast and analysis of sales & profit to deliver best in class solutions in line with strategy and expectations of the trade and internal stakeholders
  • Review, propose and implement mark-down activity to reduce terminal stock whilst analysing action taken on mark-downs to maximize profit.
  • Planning, trading and optimizing multi-channel offer to support the brand objectives
  • Working closely with the Product Development & Design teams providing option and range plans that deliver commercial, balanced ranges across all sub-brands, ensuring all areas are protected whilst maintaining innovation
  • Strategically lead retailer trials and program from brand image and operational perspective
  • Assess competitor activities and develop solution that compete in terms of originality and impact
  • Operate as divisional representative responsible for communicating financial strategies to vendors and department heads, resulting in increased cohesiveness, improved efficiency, and enhanced effectiveness.

The Person

  • Strong commercial aptitude with good understanding of the high street.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with good attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel Skills and working knowledge of WSSI.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Highly organised and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Merchandising.
