RAYMOND WEIL continues to invest in growing its retail service infrastructure here in the UK, and this newly-created role is a key part of their investment plan for 2018 and beyond.

Today’s retail operations are characterized by pressure from all sides. Sales floor performances are constantly monitored, and this MERCHANDISER challenge is the first of three “on the road specialist” appointments planned by this proud brand owner.

Your professional background may already include familiarity with the Watch and Jewellery Retail environment, in a Visual Merchandiser/Supervisor/Store Manager role, in which case this field based opportunity with a prestigious brand may be the launch pad you are looking for to progress your career. Alternatively you may already be enjoying the challenges of a Merchandiser position, but now be looking to step into a more sophisticated retail category representing a single luxury brand. Finally, you may be a field sales professional who craves the opportunity to reconnect with and re-master a much-loved and appealing sector from your past.

Your principal objective in terms of account service will be to optimise the brand’s representation and connectivity with National Multiple Retail Jewellers, as well as occasionally lending your expertise to leading High Street Independents.

As well as your passion for both watches and music, you take pride in your people skills, including the ability to build rapport and empathy with all those you will support and interact with on a daily basis. You have a natural ability to relay product knowledge in an insightful and motivational manner, perceptively judging your audience’s capabilities and needs, and effortlessly but determinedly nudging up their essential brand knowledge and understanding – talents that will maximise the impact and effectiveness of the in-store training sessions you will regularly undertake.

You are driven by achievement, with a zest and opportunism that engenders trade support whatever the challenge posed by any individual store. You are truly in “the zone” when offering genuine support within the retail arena, always focused on ensuring the best merchandising outcomes for all.

Where opportune and with the agreement of the store, there will be opportunities to capitalise on additional promotional space; thus you will become the brand’s eyes and ears on the ground - or rather in the mall!

Merchandising is by its nature time-consuming, demanding a clear and detailed store-by-store strategy that once implemented very soon becomes the acknowledged in-store standard. In this respect your personal operating style has to be seen to be believed. You are conscientious to the point of no return, demonstrating to your in-store colleagues the benefits of managing the brand to your meticulous standards, ensuring they pick up the baton in your absence and maintain the displays to the same impeccable level.

Following this first successful hire, the idea is to evolve a national merchandising team. Naturally you will be well-placed to help with the future development of this team, perhaps in time preparing you for a future sales Account Management role focused on the independent trade sector.
