The Product Development Assistant is accountable for assisting the Product Development Team with the progression of the business through the development, sampling & bulk programme. Ensuring that corporate calendar deadlines are met & that correctly fitting samples are delivered to schedule.

Working closely with Buying, Product and Design to gain knowledge of ranges to gain a clear understanding of suppliers' capabilities & strengths.

Develop knowledge of garment construction to achieve high quality salesmens sample and through to bulk production.

Assist the Senior Technical Development manager and liaise with design team to understand the seasonal fitting briefs for each season across ranges.

Build knowledge of size charts and grading rules and with Senior TD Manager to ensure that design and development of product ranges are approved to key deadlines.

Keep development tracking sheets fully updated and monitor all samples arriving in the UK and that requests from Asia team and trips are noted and arrive for key meetings.

To assist the Senior TD Manager in arranging and carrying out fit meetings.

Assist with the building of size charts for multi seasonal products including garments and accessories.

Assist in fitting all children's ranges and any necessary adults garments.

Working with Asia Development team to act upon any feedback on construction or fit made during product launch or sales presentations to ensure all is clearly communicated to the Asia team in line with bulk production deadlines.

Ensure the smooth transition from sampling programme to bulk, attend UK development & salesman sample fit meetings offering technical support & solutions.

In liaison with the Asia offices and Senior TD Manager track and measure any samples required to be submitted to the UK office for fitting. Fit samples with the Senior TD Manager and assist in issuing clear comments to the Asia teams.

Collating information needed for other areas of the business. Generating spec information needed for the call centre/CST/online teams.

To co-ordinate a wearer trail programme using colleagues and consumers. Analyse wearer trial feedback with Senior TD Manager design & product colleagues & identify appropriate actions to improve product quality in the future.

Attend weekly QC /Rectification/ Pioneer Point meeting to review Helpdesk queries and plan solutions. Minute all comments and action plans to issue to the wider business.Request samples/stock that may be needed for checking.

Take the lead in answering product queries from the CST and call centre teams. Ensure that any corrections needed are forwarded to the Marketing department.

Working with the Senior TD Manager keep up to date records for all product risk assessments.Including product safety and children's safety requirements.


The ideal candidate will need to have 2 year minimum experience in Product Development or Quality Assurance related job role.

Graduate Calibre - with a degree in Fashion or Clothing technology.

Experience of working and liaising with Far East factories and suppliers

Great interpersonal and organisational skills.

Good problem solving through product engineering.

Analytical approach and ability to prioritise workload

The ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines

A fast learner

Fluent English both written and spoken

Self motivated

An enthusiasm to get involved, and bring creative ideas to the table.

Fast learner with ability to think outside of the box.

Team Player with positive attitude, able to meet the ever changing demands of the business

Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines creating and managing multiple critical paths

Clean Driving Licence preferred

MS Office to an intermediate level, particularly working with Excel and Word.

A working knolwedge of illustrator & PLM or similar software packages is advantageous but not essential
