Product Developer

THE ROLE

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the development of seasonal range taking into consideration design, commerciality, fabric & trims sourcing and technical issues;
  • Ensuring products are, within target margins and within seasonal budget. Samples delivery to the agreed time scale;
  • Working with Design, Technical, Merchandising and Production teams throughout the season, you will be responsible for managing the process from design handover through to SMS samples;
  • Managing fabric/trim development, setting fabric and trims targets in conjunction with target margin;
  • Working with mills and trim suppliers to ensure raw materials are within target;
  • Interpreting design briefs and technical sheets to produce cost effective pieces whilst maintaining initial design concept idea;
  • Liaising with factories and ensuring that product specifications are correct, updated and in line with critical path deadlines;
  • Support the prototype and samples delivery process - chasing suppliers for delivery and tracking;
  • Managing showroom samples ordering and tracking process;
  • To participate in the fittings;
  • Setting up and creating the product on product system (STYLEman);
  • Identify product commodity code and ensuring it is updated on STYLEman;
  • To participate in the range finalisation process;
  • To participate in range presentations;
  • To visit suppliers, mills and trim suppliers as requested to develop styles and/or order samples;
  • To negotiate prices with suppliers, mills, and trim suppliers to maintain / manage the margin level during the development of the product;
  • To attend and participate in pricing meetings;
  • To ensure order book and product handover to production team is complete and smooth;
  • Arranging fabric swatches for testing, lab dips and trims for approval
  • Managing Weekly reporting.

THE PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

We require a talented individual with:

  • A minimum five years' relevant industry experience in menswear PD/Production is essential;
  • Experience of working within a luxury Brand would be an advantage;
  • Must have strong MS Excel skills to be considered (pivot table, V lookup, concatenation);
  • A good understanding of garment production processes;
  • A good understanding of brand values;
  • Must have experience of working and communicating with manufacturers ;
  • Able to proactively manage own workload and communicate advice to suppliers;
  • Good planning and organisational skills, adaptable to change and be able to meet the needs of the business;
  • Good communication skills - written and spoken;
  • Fluent and numerate in English essential; a second language would be an advantage (Portuguese, Italian
