POSITION TITLE: Brand and Commercial Manager

REPORTS TO: Vice President



Our client is one of the world’s premier brand management company and owner of a diversified portfolio of strong global consumer brands across fashion, sports, and home industry segments. They specialise in licensing, marketing and merchandising its brand portfolio and has over 1,100 licenses with leading retailers and manufacturers worldwide that sell across various distribution channels from the mass tier to the premium market, as well as through various media outlets.


The Brand and Commercial Manager is responsible for the execution of brand expansion strategies and marketing support for the brands in our portfolio, to maximize the exposure of our brands and to capture the full market potential for royalty income.

S/he will be responsible for growing company revenue across the European markets through the proactive management of existing and prospective licensees, retailers, operators and manufacturers. The primary objective of the role is to build the business through organic growth and new business generation over the next 5 years. The ideal candidate will have excellent business development, presentation, selling and negotiation skills.

Essential Duties:

·Responsible for the brand management of designated European brands

·Drive commercial development of those brands and others in the portfolio, generating new business via lead generation and follow up, attending industry events

·Review ranges with key retail and licensee partners, attend all market appointments and ensure the brand DNA is being upheld

·Build relationships with all licensee or retail partners to identify ways to generate additional revenue in accordance with the Global and European Strategy including product category extensions, territory extensions, the additions of new brands or sublicense/partner networking opportunities

·Manage all product approvals, line reviews and sample traffic for managed brands

·Responsible for the basic financial revenue on all respective brands in accordance with the European Strategy and licensee business plans

·Manage communication to all partners on financial goals, trend and brand direction, merchandising and marketing strategies

·Coordinate key retail meetings to support our partners in meeting and exceeding revenue projections in accordance with the European Strategy

·Communication with the US and international teams, including the drawing up of monthly pipeline reports and hosting pipeline calls

·Aid the collection of retail sales reporting, analyze and distribute analysis to peers in order to identify growth opportunities in accordance with the European Strategy

·Involvement with Sales budgeting, forecasting and the development of both growth plans and performance enhancement plans for the existing business, including supporting and in some cases driving new business development initiatives where required

·Work in partnership with the European team to build strategies and initiatives to increase brand awareness and accomplish financial goals

·Draft and manage annual timelines and action calendars for all respective brands

·Take an active role in the development of International platform

On an ad hoc basis, as requested:

·Work through the process of contract negotiation and editing to secure signature, and manage those ongoing relationships thereafter

·Assist in the formulation of marketing programs in conjunction with the Marketing Manager and actively lead the roll out of these to partners

·Management of social media channels including daily posting in conjunction with the Marketing Manager

·Maintain style guides and packaging for each brand

·Development of graphics and design work for use in brand guidelines, styleguides and the like

Desired Skills and Experience:

Candidate must be a highly motivated sales and brand management professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking and results-oriented environment. A successful candidate will be a highly proactive, curious and creative problem-solver who revels in the design of brand management strategies and the tactical day-to-day pursuit of sales. S/he will have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work closely/information share with the wider team, both locally and at a distance. Detail orientation is a must, however the candidate must also be able to consider the bigger picture / macro business perspective. He or she will be flexible in their working approach and display learning agility, able to adapt to new business models/ strategies.

Preferred candidates will have experience in the following areas:

•Building and managing long-term strategic relationships, especially in the apparel, retail, wholesaling or related industries within the European marketplace.

•Pursuing sales opportunities through both direct and indirect channels

•Taking a hands-on approach to tactical/transactional business development

•Working effectively with senior management and able to clearly define, communicate and deliver upon relevant value propositions

•Presenting/communicating in both small and large groups, internally and externally

•Marketing experience, graphic design capability such as the Adobe suite and Mac experience a plus


Essential Requirements:

•Minimum 4 years of experience in sales, licensing, deal negotiation or brand development

•Proven track record of achieving annual sales, profit and strategic goals

•Experience in brand management

•Ability to think strategically and execute tactically

•Excellent negotiation and contract management skills

•English fluency is a must; aptitude in other languages a plus

•Ability to maintain a strong two-way information flow with team colleagues

•Must have strong ethics, integrity, and the passion to succeed in a challenging but rewarding environment
