As a Junior Buyer you will support the buying function by managing the critical path and general administration duties.  This will include sample management from sketch launch to pre-production, supporting the team though sample process, and liaising with the relevant departments. You will be ready to take the next step in your career with buying responsibility for in season category buying across all product categories and you will have sole responsibility for buying your own category, under the guidance of the Senior Buyer. You will report to the Group Head of Fashion.

 In this role you will be expected to:

  • Work closely with the Buyers to ensure product objectives and sales plans are delivered. Contribute to product decisions across the department
  • Negotiate cost prices under guidance of the Senior Buyer, understanding the costing process and ensure target margins are met with the best product quality and delivery
  • Attend fit session and ensure highest priority in line with critical path is fitted first. Make suggestions for improvements and resolutions
  • Understand the buying calendar and the range building process and contribute to building a commercial balanced range through active participation re product strategy, competitive benchmarking, sales history and ad hoc creative influencing opportunities
  • Thorough critical path management
  • Effective upward management of critical path issues (weekly meetings with Buying team to highlight any issues/ late approvals/ delays), proposing solutions
  • Manage the product development process - chase development samples back for sign off meetings
  • Manage and maintain visual range planner
  • Work with team on any quality and delivery issues, agree actions and solutions
  • Attend sign off meetings with Senior Buyer and Head of Division. Deputise confidently and effectively if Senior Buyer is absent
  • Have store awareness and deal with store product queries in timely and professional manner
  • Manage Supplier relationships well - regular email communication/ phone calls
  • Sending tech packs off and in some cases creating tech packs for cross costing
  • Responsible for selecting and approving trims
  • Responsible for approving all lap dip and bulk standards 
  • Ensure packaging & labelling for products are correct
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, good written and verbal communication skills

To be successful you will have:


  • 1 or 2 years’ experience working in a fast-paced fashion buying environment.
  • The desire to become a successful buyer and show passion for the brand and their customer, commercially aware
  • Demonstrate a tenacious and positive "can do" attitude in all things, at all times
  • Willing to learn new skills and be open to new opportunities
  • High attention to detail related to product, processes and systems
  • Show willingness for continuous improvement in the role and to go the extra mile across the board
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels
  • Good time management, prioritisation, negotiation & organisational skills
  • The ability to perform under pressure & self-manage, have an adaptable, flexible approach
  • Specific skills: computer literate


  • Formal qualifications: Fashion Related Degree level
