We are a luxury designer womenswear brand, looking for an experienced Pattern Cutter/Garment Technologist/Product Developer, with a wide range of abilities, to join our fast-growing team and play an integral part in the development of our clothing ranges.  We currently specialise in smart tailoring for day but are now looking to develop softer items and evening wear. Our exclusive range is currently sold through our boutique in Knightsbridge and on-line and we would like to expand this to wholesale accounts in the near future.

This role reports to the Designer who is also the founder and owner of the business

The Role:

  • Management of timeline to achieve required critical path for new samples and production
  • Production of accurate specification sheets from sketches and directions from the Designer
  • Selection of suitable pattern cutters to make the patterns and toile's and sometimes creating the patterns yourself
  • Communication of sketches/specifications to pattern cutter
  • Liaison with pattern cutter regarding delivery of finished toile's
  • Attending fit meetings and taking accurate notes
  • Communication of necessary alterations, to pattern cutter
  • Checking final patterns for accuracy and if necessary, making alterations to patterns yourself
  • Organizing the production of sample garments
  • Setting up a system of approved samples
  • Organising grading for new, approved patterns
  • Liaising with production facilities regarding samples, quality standards and finishes for existing garments, quality checking of all finished production
  • Visiting factories (in London) frequently to ensure the smooth running of samples and production orders
  • Checking deliveries of fabrics to ensure they are as ordered
  • Measuring boutique customers for made to measure garments
  • Producing specification sheets for special one-off orders and made to measure customers
  • Communicating these requirements to patter cutters or making the necessary alteration to patterns yourself
  • Ensuring an end to end service that meets client deadlines for all special orders
  • Pinning ready-to-wear garments in the boutique for customers requiring alterations
  • Researching and finding new manufacturers as required
  • Ordering components for garment production (zips, buttons, tapes etc.)
  • Collating all components with spec sheets for production

 

The Candidate:

  • Degree level or similar
  • 5+ years of experience within the clothing industry working for a luxury brand
  • Enthusiastic team player with drive and initiative
  • Very organised and efficient
  • Proven knowledge of garment construction & fit
  • Competent pattern cutter who understands Made to Measure requirements and able to grade patterns accordingly
  • Experience of liaising with factories (preferably in the UK)
  • Good communication skills
