Assistant Designer (Men's & Women's Streetwear)
As Assistant Designer with 2-3 years of post-graduate experience, you will be supporting the Senior Designer with research, product design, placement graphics, artwork and tech pack creation for this premium streetwear brand with a high-profile following amongst elite sports professionals.
From its roots in menswear, the brand is adding womenswear. Product categories include t-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits, combats, outerwear, swim shorts and loungewear.
The successful designer will be UK-based and commutable to London with a strong eye for shape and graphics supported by outstanding presentation skills and high-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Indesign. Experience designing both men's and women's sportswear or athleisure product is essential along with a passion for streetwear. This is a great opportunity for a design assistant ready to take the next step.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of both the menswear and womenswear collections including streetwear-influenced shapes and graphics for t-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits, combats, outerwear, swim shorts and loungewear.
- Research and identify the latest key trends to inspire and develop new concepts and complement and evolve existing product lines.
- Develop concept ranges and samples through CAD creation from initial sketch to technical packs (intermediate to advanced Illustrator skills are essential).
- Research and development of placement graphics and print techniques.
- Preparation of print-ready graphic artwork in Illustrator.
- Preparation of first-class design presentations in InDesign demonstrating an aptitude for image layout, accuracy, grammar and spelling.
- Support the Senior Designer with product handover following fits providing clear instructions to the sample room and factories.
- Create and update the collection plan using InDesign.
- General design administration.
Skills and Requirements:
- Degree in Fashion Design followed by 2-3 years of post-graduate experience in sportswear or athleisure design for men and women.
- UK-based within a commutable distance to Camden tube.
- Skilled in the design and artworking of placement graphics.
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Adobe Indesign (essential), Illustrator (essential) and Photoshop.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A confident, proactive approach capable of working effectively in a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
- Ability to interact effectively with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary in line with experience.
- Monday to Thursday 9:00 to 5:30, Friday 9:00 to 4:30.
- Hybrid working Tuesday to Thursday in the office.
