A British heritage brand known for its iconic footwear is looking for an Assistant Footwear Designer to join their London team. You will be supporting the design and development of footwear collections for each season.
In this role, you will be responsible for researching trends, colours, materials, and trims, with a strong focus on understanding the evolving footwear market. You will create initial sketches of footwear concepts, both hand-drawn and digital, contributing innovative and original designs to the collection.
Your responsibilities will also include providing detailed technical drawings and specifications for prototype development, ensuring designs are executed with precision. You will collaborate with the development team and factories, offering weekly updates on current projects, reviewing prototypes, making amendments, and attending fittings. Additionally, you will explore sustainable materials, footwear constructions, and production methods, ensuring our designs are both innovative and eco-conscious.
You will complete competitor analysis with shopping trips to assess market trends and drive design inspiration for upcoming collections. Working closely with senior designers and other product categories to ensure alignment with the overall brand strategy. Assisting with range plans, collection overviews, and creating colour CADs will also be part of your responsibilities.
Preparing and updating collection presentations for design reviews, ensuring accuracy throughout the season. You will also have the opportunity to assist in photoshoots and product launches, playing a key role in bringing the collection to life.
