Assistant Merchandiser
As Assistant Merchandiser at this largescale garment supplier, you will be the contact between internal departments, external customers and the overseas production offices. The focus is to ensure the critical path is adhered to and customer orders are delivered on time, within margin and to the required quality standards and calls for a proactive approach with attention to detail.
Working closely with the Account Manager and Senior Merchandiser on coordination of the day-to-day merchandising and production for several accounts from order confirmation to delivery invoicing. You will also be fully running one of the smaller accounts.
The successful Assistant Merchandiser will have at least 2 years of Supply Chain / Operations / Production Merchandising experience ideally for a supplier, be naturally numerical and an excellent communicator.
Main responsibilities
- Maintain up-to-date critical paths (factory & customer) along with general administrative data required for order management.
- Coordinating with the internal Merchandise team for all new purchase orders and any amendments in a timely manner and updating the related order book.
- Chasing up the customer for POs and all amendments in a timely manner without any impact on deliveries.
- Review customer PO reports and systems and ensure all customer order details and systems are accurate and match the agreed confirmations.
- Closely monitor the critical path together with the factory, working proactively to find solutions to ensure minimum impact to the business in terms of cost and delays.
- Review and approve all packaging for bulk orders, communicating details to the China hub in a timely manner.
- Production sample submission and approvals to ensure shipments are on time.
- Maintain physical sample records accurately along with the sample database in the showroom.
- Working together with the wider teams to maintain and drive on-time delivery of confirmed orders ensuring any delays are clearly highlighted and reported with possible solutions.
- Learning any new customer systems, where required onboarding colleagues to ensure the production process is moving forward.
- Assist in the preparation of customer meetings and together with the Account Manager ensure all details are up to date on each customer critical path.
- Keeping internal teams updated on any issues and proactively working to preempt any PO issues so that all shipments are delivered on time.
- Proactively contribute to problem-solving and tackling special areas internally with the team.
- Assist the Sales Manager and Account Manager providing general administrative support where required.
Essential Skills:
- Assistant Merchandiser with at least 2 years of experience in a Supply Chain / Operations / Production Merchandising environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced Excel skills and previous use of ERP systems such as SAP or PLM.
- Experience working with and managing critical paths.
- Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills working with cross-functional and offshore teams.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, able to work to tight deadlines where required.
- Enthusiastic team player interacting effectively at all levels.
- Ability to prioritise workload and multi-task across projects and tasks.
- Ability to take ownership and resolve issues, prioritising where necessary.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to pick new things up quickly.
