A major global brand is seeking a Buying Manager to lead their menswear category ($100mill+).

This is an expat position based in Dubai. The role reports to Head of Buying

Buying Manager – Menswear: The Role:  

  • Develop multi-product buying plans and budget each season for the category
  • Align the buying plan to the overall department/category business plan and the merchandize strategy as laid down by the function head
  • Work closely with the Design team to ensure that the product proposition is commercial, on trend and complete
  • Oversee the range plans for ensuring relevance and cost effectiveness
    Continuous improvement in Buying by reducing time, improve margins and anticipate as well as resolve bottlenecks
  • Work with planning and other teams to ensure efficient product management (right product is available at right time in effective quantities in the stores)
  • Responsible for sales & profit targets of the category, so will be responsible for timely procurement of merchandise, and stock control (budgeting, mark-downs, in-take margins, OTB management etc)
  • Responsible for Critical path management
  • Build, update and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure capacities and negotiate prices, delivery times
  • Provide inputs to sourcing department for group/department sourcing strategy
  • Ensure department compliance to product requirement, company processes etc in collaboration with sourcing
  • Conduct regular store visits in own stores across territories for feedback & in competition stores to benchmark product ranges, quality, & pricing
  • Keep abreast of the latest fashion trends in buying and applying the same during range building


Buying Manager: Menswear: The candidate:

  • Extensive experience in the retail industry with at least 5 years of Buying Manager experience ideally in the UK/Europe within large retail/brand format
  • Strong product knowledge in menswear buying
  • You will have a collaborative personality, be able to manage an international team, be receptive to ideas and new ways of working. 
  • You will have a global mindset, be able to take a fresh view on new markets, new trends
  • You will be highly commercial and competitive, be ahead of the curve and have an acute understanding of products and commercials
  • You will have a sharp business acumen and a broad skill set in management within large matrix structures
