Junior Account Manager
Our client is a leading designer and supplier of ladies and childrens footwear providing on-trend footwear for a number of UK High Street retailers creating unique, on-trend styles for a wide range of UK retailers and providing a seamless service running from initial design through sourcing and quality assurance to delivery. They work very closely with the customers, on everything from design collaboration to sales support and also work closely with manufacturers in both Asia and Europe, to bring the very best in terms of originality, quality and value.
As well as creating footwear for many well-known retail brands, they also own a number of brand names which they are developing.
They are now seeking a Junior Sales/Account Manager to join their busy team. In this role the candidates will assist with the sales activity to develop and build business with a number of existing and new customers by understanding customer needs. This role requires sales experience, but not industry experience, so the job holder will work closely with the rest of the sales team to gain knowledge about the business, and work towards taking on sole accounts to maximise the potential business between the client and its customers. This involves building relationships with buyers, being aware of sales performance of different product types, identifying opportunities to sell into new and existing product areas, and being aware of strengths and activities of competitors.
Junior Account Manager - The Role:
- Research market trends by various means – shops, magazines, websites, talking to buyers
- Identify products performing well and work with sales and design teams, in conjunction with customers, to develop new product ideas
- Request, negotiate and confirm prices with suppliers and customers
- Ensure product specifications are confirmed between supplier and customer
- Liaise with technical team to ensure product is safe and meets quality standards
- Liaise with merchandisers to ensure order process is smooth and any customer queries are dealt with quickly and efficiently
- Follow up customer meetings with detailed notes and sample orders as necessary, taking responsibility for sample chasing, checking and delivery to customers
- The role will involve extensive UK travel to visit customers’ offices and to review ranges in store. In due course it will also involve travel abroad to trade shows, and to visit suppliers and factories in China.
- Building and maintaining customer relationships with the support of the merchandise team to successfully manage the order process and to ensure critical path process is smooth, efficient and on time
- Manage customer relationships at all levels - understanding the market and their requirements
- Meeting sales targets and ensuring orders are successfully delivered to the customer
Junior Account Manager - The Candidate
- Previous sales experience
- Ability to build and maintain excellent business relationships
- Pro-active approach to seek out and win new business
- Confidence and personal resilience
- Great customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Good level of numeracy
- IT skills, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Driving licence is essential
