Garment Technologist - Childrenswear
Job Overview:
With a strong understanding of garment construction and great organisation skills, you'll work on our womenswear department. Reporting to the Garment Technologist you’ll assist with the product Iife cycle, ensuring that the initial design concept is successfully translated into a product that can be effectively communicated and meets our customer's needs.
This is a 12 month Maternity cover starting by December . The role must be worked 5 days in the office based in North West London
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Responsible for thorough checks of all samples submitted across all development stages, ensuring all fabrics and measurements meet The Client’s London standards
• Measure all samples received and update workbook with findings, e.g. is the proto as per the design sketch sent/ is the comments actioned from previous fits and check all samples received for fabric quality/ print placement/ details/ correct trims are used
• To carry out a range of technical, investigative work to ensure product is delivered to the best of standards
• Fitting garments to a high standard and gathering accurate information to communicate detailed fit comments to send to suppliers
• Ensure garment is risk assessed and the correct disclaimers if need be and request testing if required.
• Ensure sealers are ready on time and in line with the critical path, communicating any changes to the Senior GT, Designer and Production
• Contribute to product improvements through technical research, interpretation of market information, and quality benchmarking
• Manage critical path and ensure Airtable (internal PLM system) is up to date at all times.
• Carry out regular QC checks (product deemed high risk as well as regular product)
• To ensure all technical files are kept up to date.
• Work alongside customer care for any urgent queries regarding your product area.
Requirements:
• Fashion or garment-related degree, or similar, preferred
• Practical industry experience, essential
• Computer literate and proficient on Microsoft office.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communicator.
• A confident, proactive approach capable of working effectively independently and in a team under pressure in a demanding fast paced environment.
• Ability to interact effectively with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
• Must have an interest in fabric development and garment manufacturing.
