Garment Technologist - Womenswear

Our client, a leading fashion retailer, is seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Garment Technologist to join their product team.

Based in sunny Australia, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to play a pivotal role in ensuring the fit, quality, and consistency of apparel products from initial development through to bulk production.

The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing the brand's design vision to life with precision, while minimising risk, preventing delays, and supporting the delivery of high-quality products that exceed customer expectations.

Main Responsibilities Will Include:

• Managing garment fit and quality throughout the product lifecycle, from initial samples through to bulk production.
• Leading and driving fit sessions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to critical path timelines.
• Collaborating closely with Buying and Design teams to deliver products in line with briefs, brand standards, and commercial objectives.
• Providing clear technical guidance and support to offshore suppliers, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Reviewing and approving styles for bulk production, ensuring product integrity and consistency.
• Overseeing garment testing, care instructions, and compliance requirements to ensure all standards are met.
• Supporting, coaching, and developing a QA Assistant, promoting best practice and technical excellence.
• Identifying potential risks early and escalating issues that may impact quality, timelines, or delivery.

Person Specification:

• Previous experience within a Garment Technologist role in a fashion retail environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of garment fit, construction, grading, and fabrications.
• Proven experience leading fit sessions and confidently influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach combined with strong commercial awareness.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams and offshore suppliers.
• A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to delivering right-first-time product outcomes.
