General Manager - Technical

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global apparel manufacturer for a highly strategic General Manager - Technical & PD. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced technical professional who can drive operational excellence across multiple product categories while leading high-performing technical and product development teams.

Based in Bangladesh, working closely with senior leadership, you will be responsible for shaping technical strategy, improving product development processes, strengthening factory capabilities and ensuring the delivery of commercially successful, production-ready products for international retail customers.

This role requires someone who has experience leading large-scale operations within a fast-paced global environment.

Main Responsibilities Will Include:

• Lead the Technical & Product Development function across knitwear, woven and jersey categories.
• Develop and implement technical strategies that support business growth and operational excellence.
• Oversee the end-to-end product development process, ensuring products are right first time and production ready.
• Drive continuous improvement through robust technical processes, KPIs and best practice across the business.
• Build strong relationships with international customers, acting as the senior technical point of contact.
• Partner closely with Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, QA, Production and Supply Chain teams to deliver seamless execution.
• Lead factory capability development, technical training and performance improvement initiatives across manufacturing partners.
• Ensure all products meet customer quality, compliance, safety and performance standards.
• Evaluate technical risks, manufacturing feasibility and production readiness to support successful delivery.
• Mentor, develop and inspire senior technical and product development teams, creating a high-performance culture.

Person Specifications:

• Proven senior leadership experience within Technical and/or Product Development in the apparel industry.
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale factory operations and supplier networks.
• Extensive multi-category experience across knitwear, woven and jersey.
• Strong understanding of the complete product development lifecycle from concept through to bulk production.
• Experience working with international retailers, brands and buying offices.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, manufacturing processes, quality assurance and compliance.
• Commercially focused with excellent strategic planning and decision-making skills.
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and customers.
• Passionate about developing teams, improving processes and driving operational excellence.
