Magee is a fifth generation Irish family business with over 150 years’ experience designing, weaving and tailoring cloth and clothing in Donegal.  The Company operates across manufacturing, wholesale, retail and e-commerce and is a well-known indigenous Irish brand, renowned for high quality and exceptional standards in all areas.

Based at the Mill in Donegal Town, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Textile Sales Designer to design and sell apparel and accessory fabrics in the UK and international markets; designing for seasonal collections and bespoke customer developments.

Key responsibilities:-

  • Sales development of forward order and stock collections to luxury brands.
  • Working with the Design Team to create fabrics which are unique to Magee and appeal to our high end trade customers – independent retailers, hotels, interior designers, international design houses and corporate gifting organisations and direct to consumer via www.magee1866.com
  • Keeping up-to-date with textile trends, as well as accessing the Magee archives and interpreting these for production.
  • Working with clients on bespoke developments and interpreting their ideas with design, colour and textures which suit their requirements and with efficient yarn management.
  • Liaising with the Production Teams and understanding design implementation and bulk production.
  • Maintaining and increasing sales with existing customers and prospecting for new customers and management of end to end sales cycle from building a sales pipeline.
  • Together with the Design Team, admin, set-up and attendance at relevant trade shows.
  • Overseas travel at specific times of the year.

Key requirements:-

  • A relevant third level qualification and previous experience in a similar role with proven textile sales success. 
  • An appreciation of quality natural fibre textiles and creativity in terms of colour, pattern, texture, design etc.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to forge good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Computer literate with strong Excel skills and the ability to quickly learn in-House systems.
  • The ability to use initiative and complete all tasks and projects conclusively and to deadlines.
  • A full clean driving licence is essential.
  • Flexibility to travel and be away from home for 3-4 days at a time (during the selling season).

This is a full-time role which, due to its nature and scope, is not suitable for remote/hybrid working.  A competitive salary is on offer.
