Our client, one of UK’s leading independent Sportswear brand-houses, is looking for an experienced, organised and self-motivated Apparel Product Developer / Merchandiser to work within a friendly, enthusiastic and excelling apparel Design and Development team.

THE JOB DESCRIPTION

Working within the dynamic international team, reporting to the Senior Product Manager/Merchandiser, in this very interesting role, you will be: 

  • Working across categories of mens and womens apparel from initial concept through to bulk samples on the inline and SMU collections.
  • Executing the development process in a timely manner by creating detailed spec sheets for all products and issuing to factories with accurate and clear information as well as target prices.
  • Daily contact with overseas factories via email and telephone to develop and deliver proto types and samples in line with strict Critical Path and commercial business requirements.
  • Assessment of all proto types and samples to ensure spec/brief has been correctly adhered to. Manage any errors/issues with proto types or samples in a proactive and dynamic way.
  • Ensure the product is in line with the company’s target margin and expected retail price, without compromising the brands’ quality standards
  • Giving clear instructions to the factories and ensure the samples are made to specifications.
  • Managing the critical path from initial concept through to bulk samples.
  • Manage the time line strictly to ensure the samples are delivered on time.
  • Work closely with Design, Marketing and Sourcing teams.
  • Assisting and supporting the Senior Product manager with day to day duties.
  • Assisting in fit sessions for inline SMU collections.
  • Ensure data integrity - codes and prices.

 

THE PERSON DESCRIPTION

You will ideally have at least 3 years’ experience in Apparel Product Development in the fashion industry. Your experience and knowledge will include the following:

  • Good knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing process.
  • Ability to follow tech packs/specs accurately.
  • Good knowledge on fits and materials.
  • Eye for details and cost 
  • Experience in working on garment costings
  • Ability to liaise with, and build good internal and external working relationships.
  • A team player and someone who works well under their own initiative. 
  • Well organised and attentive to detail. 
  • Self-motivated.  Ability to work to multiple deadlines and in a fast paced environment.
