Footwear Designer

We’re looking for a Footwear Designer to join us on our journey and be a key member of our Global Design Team. You’ll be ready to develop your existing skills by working with senior members of the team on a range of projects and be responsible for helping to drive the creative direction and product designs, helping the team produce the best work possible.

You'll be an individual who is able to understand and work within the parameters of the brand whilst bringing a fresh point of view and new innovative designs and ideas. You'll have a degree in either Fashion, Footwear or Product Design with a good understanding of shoemaking and a hunger to learn and progress within the team.


The Responsibilities:

  • Develop and create initial hand sketches, technical drawings (Illustrator based), and product specification sheets to a high quality and technical level
  • Support senior members with delivering technical drawings and product specification sheets
  • Contribute to and follow design direction and translate market input into innovative yet progressive designs
  • Offer input to creative meetings and share ideas - contribute innovative and commercial design solutions
  • Understand and execute a clear “FitFlop” identity into design, colour and materials
  • Participate in market research to identify new trends, competition and customer’s expectations
  • Communicate with senior members of the team to receive briefs and feedback
  • Support the team throughout the design process from seasonal trends to final samples ensuring timely development at every key stage
  • Work to a commercial brief and deliver designs and product on cost and to deadlines
  • Demonstrate knowledge of materials, pattern making, and the fitting of footwear
  • Able to create and draw on Vac forms with precise measurements to the level of details needed for the factories
  • Day to day admin work to support the Design team including general maintenance of the design studio
  • Able to communicate clearly and promptly with our Asia team during the process of product development

The Person:

  • You’ll have a degree in either Fashion, Footwear or Product Design
  • Good understanding of shoemaking
  • Excellent in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Excel
  • Good hand sketching skills
  • A creative eye and flair for trends, colour, and shoe patterns
  • A “can do” attitude
  • Very clear communicator (verbal, written and sketches)
  • Strong organizational skills that support the rest of the design team
  • Consistency regardless of project size
  • Adaptable and ability to design around a problem
  • Ability to work to a deadline in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong team player – key to have a background of working as a part of design team
  • Conscientious with a willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve
  • Able to understand and work within the parameters of the product and the brand guidelines (fashion meets function)
  • Excellent and up to date market knowledge on trends, designers and brands, you’ll have a great interest in fashion, design and footwear
  • Good understanding of requirements in commercial products
  • Embellishment/ hardware design skills is a plus
