Freelance Print Designer

Our client is a fast growing supplier of apparels to the high street. They are seeking a talented print designer with strong commercial handwriting to cater to both menswear and womenswear categories. 

You will be a talented print designer with a strong handwriting focussed towards the young customer. You will have experience in printing, embroidery, embellishments, trims, etc.

Any experience of working with Primark, M&S, NEXT, will be an advantage.

Job Profile:
• Understanding the potential markets/customers and the current/future trends.
• Lead the print, graphic and surface embellishment trend and concept development for
seasonal menswear and womenswear collections.

• Create original print and graphic concepts that complement garment design and fabric
choices; converting into print libraries and digital assets.
• Develop prints, graphics, and pattern repeats for both menswear and womenswear; explore
hand-drawn, digital, and photographic sources.

• Prepare print/colour libraries, motifs, repeat scale guidelines, and colourways; 

• Collaborate with designers, fabric developers, and product development teams to ensure
feasibility, competitive price, colourfastness, and compliance with production constraints.
• Manage multiple print briefs simultaneously; present concepts to teams and clients.

Required Skills & Experience:
• 4–6 years in print/graphic design for fashion, with a portfolio showcasing prints across fabrics
and garment categories.

• Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, and pattern-
making tools); familiarity with textile printing processes.

• Strong sense of colour, pattern chemistry, and trend awareness; ability to translate trend
forecasts into practical prints.
• Good communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working within cross-functional
teams and with customers.
• Degree in Graphic Design, Textile Design, Fashion Design, or related field.
• Interest or experience with sustainable print practices and dye processes is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field; additional qualifications/courses a plus.
• Understanding of sustainability and responsible sourcing in materials.
• Capable of working under pressure and on own initiative with a flexible approach to the
workload
• Strong organisational skills, ability to work with critical deadlines.
• Willingness to undertake travel within UK as well as overseas
• Have a good working knowledge of customer quality standards
• Strong interpersonal and people management skills
