Garment Technologist - Womenswear (Mat Cover)

We are working with a fantastic client who is a fast-growing, sustainability-led fashion brand with a strong commitment to quality, fit, and ethical product development.

They are looking for an experienced Garment Technologist to join their close-knit product team on a 12-month fixed term basis, based in their Brighton office (Monday-Thursday in office).

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with the wider product team on development, risk-assessing new ideas to protect critical path dates throughout the season
  • Creating detailed tech packs covering product specifications, fit comments, construction requirements, and performance standards
  • Attending and documenting fit meetings, communicating clear fit and construction comments across Initial, Red, Black, and Gold seal stages
  • Identifying suitable fabrics, trims, and washes in line with the brand's sustainability principles
  • Anticipating technical problems and providing solutions with corrective action plans
  • Analysing customer returns and product faults alongside the Technical Manager, and making recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Ensuring all products comply with testing, performance standards, and relevant fabric labelling requirements
  • Approving bulk test reports and care labels
  • Carrying out benchmarking exercises against competitors across quality, fit, and sustainability innovations

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in a Garment Technologist role
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing operations, including pattern cutting, grading, and marker making
  • Solid understanding of product performance testing and fabric components
  • Genuine passion for sustainability and circularity within fashion
  • Proven experience working with overseas factories, with the ability to communicate empathetically and effectively across time zones
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines on a live critical path
  • Collaborative, transparent communicator who works with ease across departments
