Head of Compliance

A major manufacturer of apparels is seeking a Head of Compliance to lead their ethical, social and environmental compliance teams across countries such as Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies and procedures tailored to garment manufacture.
  • Ensure adherence to local and international laws relating to labour practices, product safety, trade regulations, consumer protection, and environmental standards.
  • Lead internal audits and agree action plans with the Board and compliance teams to address any compliance issues or breaches.
  • Monitor supplier and factory compliance to ensure any action plans arising from audits are followed up and implemented.
  • Reporting to the Group Operations Director and presenting progress, results and issues to the board.
  • Manage training and awareness programs across the business to promote a culture of integrity and accountability.
  • Stay current with evolving industry regulations and update stakeholders accordingly.
  • Interface with regulators, third-party auditors, and industry bodies as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance within the clothing industry.
  • Deep understanding of standards required by ISO, Sedex, Higg etc in ethical sourcing, sustainability frameworks, and international trade and labour laws.
  • Proven experience managing audits and compliance programs in complex global supply chains.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • The role will require extensive overseas travel and the successful candidate can choose to base themselves either at one of our overseas production sites or in the UK. If based in the UK, around 60% of their time will be spent overseas.
