Senior Apparel Designer – Shape a Performance-Driven Fashion Brand
Central Manchester
Up to £50,000
An established, fast-growing UK fashion brand is looking for a Senior Apparel Designer to lead creative direction and push product to the next level. The brand sits at the intersection of performance and style – think technical, outdoor-inspired pieces with a modern, street-led attitude. Collections are built for movement, weather and real life: lightweight jackets, functional layers and everyday-ready sets.
If you’re obsessed with fabric, fit and construction – and love mentoring others while staying hands-on – this one’s for you.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll be a key player in the design team, working closely with the Head of Design and Head of Brand to steer where the brand goes next. In this role, you will:
- Own the design process for key categories and drops, managing timelines from the critical path and knowing when to kick off each phase
- Research seasonal direction, trends and design stories while keeping the brand DNA front and centre, presenting concepts confidently to senior stakeholders
- Turn research into clear, commercial design concepts and spot-on technical packs that factories can execute accurately
- Push innovation in construction and fabric development to elevate product across all ranges, including kids
- Ensure children’s product meets all relevant safety standards and guidelines
- Work directly with overseas suppliers and travel for brand development and production trips
- Partner closely with Product Development and play an active role in fit sessions to make sure garments move and feel as they should
- Help recruit, lead and support mid-weight and junior designers, setting a high bar and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement
- Keep the team agile and capable of working to short turnarounds and fast-paced demands
- Forward-plan ranges for future seasons so the brand stays ahead of the consumer
What you bring
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in fashion design
- Degree in a relevant fashion/design discipline
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of fabrics, garment construction and fit
- Experience mentoring and developing junior members of a design team
- Strong understanding of the UK fashion consumer and how they shop and dress
- Ability to react quickly to changing priorities, trade feedback and trend shifts
- Genuine passion for the fashion industry, innovation and product excellence
