Design Assistant - Luxury Womenswear Brand

My client, a leading RTW luxury Womenswear brand, are looking for a Design Assistant to join their rapidly expanding London team.

Offering a salary of circa £25-32k, the ideal Design Assistant will:

·Have a minimum of 1 years experience in a women’s wear RTW brand

·Have a proven track record in assisting in the day to day running of an Atelier in producing samples to make ready for CMT and Fully Factored

·Have some experience in working with factories in the UK and Europe as well as the Far East.

·Have good technical understanding required of construction, in the areas of pattern, fit, grading, fusing and finishing’s and well as a knowledge of print placement.

·Be flexible, proactive and able to work to tight deadlines

The general responsibilities of the Design Assistant include:

·Assist in the managing/book all freelance Creative Pattern Cutters and Machinists

·Works directly with the Product Development team throughout the development phase of the collection

·Assists in the trialing all new freelancers

·Responsible for all patterns being finished to a high standard with correct annotations, and any toiles or samples are correctly annotated and the relevant documents accompanying pattern or toile/sample are kept up to date.

·Oversees in-house preparation of fabrics for cutting for samples/packs.

·Responsible for maintaining the Studio expenses, Rent & Repairs/Renewals and Fit Model Trackers

·Responsible for checking, logging, processing and paying of invoices relating to Studio expenses, Rent & Repairs/Renewals and Fit Model Trackers and day to day budgetary expenses.

·Responsible for logging the Freelance trackers

·Responsible for the sourcing, interviewing and recruitment of Interns for the

·Create a ‘sample pack’ for the factories, Tech Sheet, Fabric, Trims, Pattern, Pattern Measurements and Noted up Toile, in conjunction with the Product Development Team and Garment Tech

·Responsible for overseeing and maintaining all stock levels in the workrooms (fabrics, paper, card, sewing/ pattern equipment, trims, etc).

·Supports the Atelier Manager in maintaining stock audit spreadsheets of all Atelier fabrics and components levels in conjunction with Product Development team and the RM&FSM.

·Ensure weekly meetings occur with the RM&FSM and Product Development team regarding stock levels

·All seasonal fabric and trims to be packed away at the close of the season.
